Freedom of the press is part of the bill of rights and is placed on the top of the list! The unrest governments are worried that the concentration of too much power in the hands of few powerful people, who cannot be held accountable for their actions. The case of Rupert Murdoch who owns a powerful media empire is certainly a good example of abuse of power. The reporters hacked into the cell phone accounts of not only politicians, but celebrities, and crime victims. So the question still remains; is the freedom of unsuspected people more important than the freedom of the press? Can we give so much power to politicians to regulate the news coverage or are we heading towards a democratic tyranny .Sure we elected the politicians and in a way we “control “them but the borders of censorship are unclear .On the other hand people who own huge media corporations and are driven by their self-interest are dangerous because of the lack of moral boundaries. The questions remains ;do we restrain the power of the media or the government!
